How It Works
The Food Pantry of Indian River County is a 100% volunteer organization. Utilizing space donated by a local church, The Food Pantry is able to spend 97%+ of all monetary donations on food.
Because we purchase in bulk from The Treasure Coast Food Bank and local grocery chains we are able to leverage donations acquiring over $3.00 of food for every donated dollar.
Pre-recession (2004-2005), The Food Pantry was providing food to 300 families a month. By 2009-2010 that increased to an average of 775-800 families per month.
After some COVID related anomalies, we now provide support to around 600 households a month. In addition we utilize 3 other agencies to reach households in outlying areas of the County.
In 2023 The Food Pantry distributed over 300,000 pounds (150 tons) of food to residents of Indian River County.
